About

I could romanticise how my love affair with single malt whisky stemmed from my Irish/Scottish heritage, and how drinking this delectable amber spirit drew me back into the bosom of my forebears…but I’d be lying, obviously, because that is a load of rubbish. What drew me to single malt whisky from the tender, wee age of 18 was my hatred for mixed drinks. It’s funny how when one door closes another opens…and I have never looked back. (I understand that door analogy was a bit cliché, so here are some more for free #newhorizons #grassisgreener)

And just like how that little seed of hatred for mixed drinks has since grown into an ever increasing passion for whisky, so too has a little mahogany seed grown into a massive mahogany tree; which has since been cut down and fashioned into a rather large cabinet where I keep my ever increasing whisky collection that now requires insurance.  My girlfriend often asks me if I need to buy another bottle? To which I counter, ‘Did you need to buy that dress/pair of shoes?’  It’s a no-brainer, conversation-stopper.

My passion has since seen me travel to Ireland and Scotland, tasting and reviewing hundreds of single malts, as well as holding and hosting private and soon-to-be-public whisky tastings.

So come with me (but not in that kind of way), and let us together plunge into the exciting and thoroughly magnificent world of single malt whisky.

N. D. Kennedy is a funny fellow, a dapper gent, as well as a member of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society.

I write reviews (although I like to call them experiences, since to me it's more about what you get out of the drink on a personal level; as opposed to me raving or ranting and rating something that you should taste for yourself and form your own conclusion about), blogs about all things whisky, as well as provide tips to improve your allround whisky experience. And what's even better than that?

Probably nothing...
